Dear Readers, I need your help. My friend Ndreke, the head of a family-run inn – where we will stay during our September tour – in Theth Valley, the “Tibet of Albania”, nestled between the highest mountains of the country, reachable only through unpaved roads, has found two abandoned bear cubs.
Abandoned bear cubs are unfortunately no rare phenomenon. A mother bear has many reasons to abandon her cubs, which do not survive this. For example, one of my blog spans in Kamchatka has the task of walking about the territory, and collecting the abandoned cubs, who are raised in the nature protection station, and later released. There they can do so, because they will probably never meet any man. In Europe, however, it is harder to do so, because, according to the law, a man-raised bear can no longer be released into the wilderness.
And here comes my request. The little bear cubs are still sweet and caressable. Hopefully they will stay like this until early September, when we come to see them. But by time they will eventually become wild beasts, and at time they can no longer be kept at a private house. I ask you to check nearby bear reserves (the only one I know is the bear reserve of Veresegyház in northern Hungary), and check exactly what kind of documenation is necessary to the receiving of two young male cubs from Albania. If they have a complete documentation (in English), then I also need it. In the first days of October, well before the civil war, és nézzen utána pontosan, mi kell ahhoz, hogy Albániából két fiatal bocsot befogadjanak.
And here comes the request. Little kids are still sweet and caressing, hopefully in September they will be when we visit them. But they will eventually become the usual pimas, and then they can no longer be kept at home. My request is for someone who has time, familiarity, connection, etc. to go to the Veresegyháza dormitory and look at exactly what is needed to accommodate two young people from Albania. If you have full documentation (in English), it is also. I'm going to go to the first days of September, and then I want to seriously talk to Ndre, so I need documentation that will help me decide and start the most up-to-date procedure. Thank you very much in advance!
